Introduction
This WebQuest will provide a review of genetics and an introduction to some of the DNA technologies that are currently being used in both research and real world applications. After reviewing the principles of DNA and genetics, you will research specific DNA technologies, learn how to critically evaluate the information given, and apply these technologies to current practices. This WebQuest is best suited for an advanced placement high school biology course, but could also be used a primer to introduce DNA technology to a high school general biology, engineering or technology course, and could even be used for introductory level college courses. This is a lesson that requires students to "interact with resources beyond the classroom in order to actively engage in the learning process and higher levels of thinking while reinforcing their learning."
To navigate through this WebQuest, you may click on the blue button (below) that is at the bottom of each page, or you may click on the tabs at the top of the page. Please proceed through the lesson in the order in which it is presented: Introduction, Task, Process, Resources and finally the Evaluation. This will help you build the knowledge base required for successfully answering the questions presented in the evaluation.
